Jane lives and works in Usk, Monmouthshire, surrounded by hills and wildlife.
She loves nothing more than walking in the fields and woods where she sketches the pattern, shapes and textures of the landscape as well as the details of the natural world around her. Her drawings are developed further in her studio. Wildlife and mark making, central to her work, feed in to the imagery which embellishes her ceramics and displays simple narrative in a stylised manner.
Jane specialises in hand-built forms, making vessels and individual pieces that communicate a sense of joy that is inspired by the constantly changing surroundings. She uses terracotta clay and a range of techniques including clay relief, modelling and sgraffito. Glazes, slips, oxides and underglaze are used for highlighting areas.
All pieces are high fired and glazed inside to ensure they can be functional.
Jane gained her Ceramics Degree at Cardiff College of Art along with her Teaching certificate
