David Haswell – Artist

Though largely self taught he attributes his approach to being influenced by three Welsh Landscape painters……..John Blockley, Sir Kyffin Williams and  John Knapp Fisher.  All  three included mountains and vernacular buildings in their work, and David has generally followed the approach of his painting heroes.

Although he is recognised as a painter of the UK National Parks his principal inspirations are the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains which surround his home in Abergavenny.

David intends to present highly textured paintings with contrast and drama, bordering on the abstract. This he achieves through a multi layered approach involving very mixed media applied with a palette knife and overlaid with highly pigmented pure watercolours from Italy.
