Art has fascinated Joy for as long as she can remember. It has always been an integral part of her life.
Joy began by selling rough sketches drawn during her visits to various places, often catching the interest of onlookers who stopped to watch her work. She was fortunate enough to retire early and acquire a studio/gallery at The Model House, Llantrisant which enabled her to dedicate herself fully to mastering the technique of painting with a palette knife.

Joy’s style is unique and distinctive in its precision. She strives to maintain a tight, controlled application of paint rather than a rougher approach. This technique enables her to create highly detailed compositions that are rarely achieved through traditional palette knife painting.
Joy loves the challenge of capturing the beauty of the landscapes around her, particularly the cottages and farms that pepper the hills and mountains of Wales. There is something magical about the muted tones of a winter sky set against a symphony of infinite greens. The simplicity of the images and the harmony of the colours inspire her to create these scenes through her art.
