Paul Hannaby – Creative Woodturning

Paul is a woodturner, tutor and author. He produces a wide range of turned items mainly from wood but also incorporating other materials such as stone, metals, resin and paint which are intended to enhance the beauty of the wood.  Included in the range of turned wood produced by Paul are vases, hollow forms, goblets, natural edge and burr bowls, platters and pens.

Paul likes to work with local woods and will often start with a piece of trunk or branch in its raw form and will control the whole process from tree to table.

Much of Paul’s main focus in woodturning is on individual one off pieces. He also likes to use a variety of different tools and techniques, combining texture and colour with turning wood to enhance the natural beauty of the wood. Coloured pieces can even be produced to match your colour scheme if required. Paul also produces utility items such as salad bowls, pepper/salt grinders, chopping boards, clocks and pens. Many more examples of Paul’s woodturning can be seen on Paul’s Creative Woodturning website.

Woodturning Demonstrations and Tuition

In addition to producing a wide variety of turned wood, Paul is also available for demonstrations for woodturning clubs and other groups; talks and individual woodturning tuition for all levels of skill from absolute beginner to advanced, either at his workshop in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire or in your own workshop. If you are not sure woodturning is for you, taster sessions can also be arranged. Why not give one as a gift? Paul is a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB) and is an AWGB approved instructor.

Commissions

Commissions and commercial work are also undertaken for personal and corporate gifts, utility items and restoration work. Contact Paul for further details.
